Just 22 nautical miles east of Galveston, Texas, station 42035 sits in shallow coastal water, only about 15.5 meters deep (around 50 feet), off the upper Texas coast near the approaches to Galveston Bay. It is a 3-meter foam buoy.
Its camera sends a strip of several photos taken in different directions, generally every hour while it is light. This close in, the low coastline may or may not be visible depending on haze and the direction of each shot, and ships heading for the Houston and Galveston ports may now and then pass through a frame. The buoy bobs with the chop, so expect a moving horizon.
