LiveLocation only shows cameras that their owners or public agencies have published. Still, mistakes happen, and circumstances change. If you want a camera removed or corrected, we will make it easy and act fast.
Who can ask
- Camera owners and operators, including people authorized to act for them, who would rather their camera was not listed.
- Agencies and organizations that publish camera feeds.
- Anyone who appears in a view, or whose home, yard or window can be seen, or who has any privacy concern about a camera.
You do not need to prove anything to raise a privacy concern. If it worries you, tell us.
The fastest way: report the camera
- Open the camera’s page on LiveLocation and click Report this camera, or go to our report form and enter the camera’s number.
- Choose the reason that fits best:
- Privacy concern: it shows inside a home, you, or a child.
- Inappropriate content.
- This is my camera / copyright: please remove it.
- Wrong place, wrong name, or not working.
- Add a short note if it helps, and your email if you would like a reply. For “my camera” and copyright requests, we need an email so we can confirm with you.
What happens next
- Privacy and inappropriate content: the camera is hidden from LiveLocation immediately and automatically when you send the report, before anyone looks at it. We then review it within 24 hours, and where it makes sense we let the camera’s owner know about the concern.
- “This is my camera, please remove it”: cameras from owners, streamers and networks are hidden immediately. For cameras from government open-data feeds, we review the request and usually reply within 2 business days.
- Corrections (location, name, description): we aim to fix them within 3 business days.
Our target is to answer every removal request within 2 business days. Once we have confirmed a removal, the camera does not come back unless its owner asks for it.
What helps us act quickly
- The camera’s LiveLocation page address or number.
- What the problem is, in a sentence or two.
- For owners: how we can see that the camera is yours, for example an email from the same domain as the camera’s website, or the account the stream is published from.
- For a whole source or many cameras: the source name and what you would like us to do.
Cameras you added yourself
If you added your camera through Add your camera, you can withdraw it at any time from the private status link we gave you. It is hidden at once, no questions asked.
Removal from LiveLocation and removal from the internet
We never record or host video. Every stream plays from its owner’s server or platform. Removing a camera from LiveLocation stops it showing here, but the camera itself, and its stream on the owner’s site or platform, is controlled by its owner. For a privacy concern about the camera itself, we can pass your concern on to the owner if you wish.
Other ways to reach us
If your request covers many cameras, a whole source, or does not fit the report form, write to us through the Staricon contact page and mention LiveLocation. You can read the rules every camera must meet on How we choose cameras.
