MeteoSwiss runs this weather camera at Novazzano, in the Mendrisiotto at the southern tip of Ticino, close to Chiasso and the Italian border, at about 421 meters. The panorama looks over nearby rooftops and gardens to the plain and towns of southern Ticino, with the first ridges of the Alps rising beyond.
This is the southernmost corner of Switzerland, on the edge of the Lombardy plain, and its weather can be quite different from the rest of the country. You may see haze and fog drifting up from the Po Valley, especially in autumn and winter, heavy thunderstorms in summer, and clear, sunny days when a north wind blows over the Alps. Snow is rare on the plain but can whiten the mountains. MeteoSwiss uses this camera to watch weather along flight routes in the south, including approaches into nearby airports. The edges of the panorama are sometimes slightly blurred.
