Live cameras in Etobicoke, Canada

Etobicoke is the western part of the City of Toronto, Ontario. It was a separate city until January 1, 1998, when it was amalgamated with the other municipalities of Metropolitan Toronto, and today it is one of the city's administrative districts, with about 376,000 residents at the 2021 census. It stretches from Lake Ontario in the south to Steeles Avenue in the north, with the Humber River on its eastern side and Etobicoke Creek, Mississauga and Toronto Pearson International Airport along its western edge.

Its neighborhoods are very different from one another. Along the lake, Mimico, New Toronto and Long Branch keep an older small-town feel, while the towers of Humber Bay Shores have sprung up beside Humber Bay Park. Inland, The Kingsway and Humber Valley Village are leafy residential areas, Islington was the old municipal center, and Rexdale in the north is a large, diverse community near the airport and Woodbine. Centennial Park, with its small ski hill, and the terraced James Gardens offer green space.

The Gardiner and city streets

The cameras on this page are run by the City of Toronto, which began installing its traffic monitoring cameras in 1993 to watch the Gardiner Expressway. The city publishes still images from them that refresh every two to three minutes. In Etobicoke they cover the western end of the Gardiner, which starts at Highway 427 and runs east along the lakeshore toward downtown, together with major city streets and intersections. Ontario's provincial highways nearby, such as the 401 and 427, form the busiest freeway junctions in the region.

Toronto's west end shares the city's Eastern clock, which moves ahead an hour in spring. Rush hours bring heavy traffic toward downtown in the morning and back toward the suburbs in the evening. Winters are cold, with snow and freezing rain at times, and summers are warm and humid. In June the sun sets around nine, and in December soon after half past four.

High Park lies just across the Humber River to the east, and the Humber Bay Arch Bridge carries the lakeside trail over the river mouth.
