Live cameras in New Taipei City, Taiwan

New Taipei City wraps completely around Taipei, stretching from dense riverside districts like Banqiao, Sanchong and Xindian out to quiet mountain valleys and about 120 kilometers of northern coastline. It is Taiwan’s most populous municipality, home to about 4 million people across 29 districts, and its landscape changes quickly: the old harbor town of Tamsui sits at the river mouth, the hillside lanes of Jiufen look over the sea near Ruifang, and forested ridges climb toward Mount Zhuzi.

Its own set of more than 170 cameras comes from Taiwan’s official highway CCTV network, compiled from Freeway Bureau and Highway Bureau feeds. Because so many trunk roads cross this city, the views cover a lot of ground. National Freeway 1 runs on a long viaduct between Xizhi and Wugu, National Freeway 3 passes Zhonghe, Tucheng and Sanying, and National Freeway 5 climbs through the mountains toward the Hsuehshan Tunnel. Provincial Highway 2, the Northern Coastal Highway, traces the shore past Jinshan and Gongliao. The pictures are snapshots that update from time to time, so expect a short delay.

Local time is UTC+8. On weekdays the freeway cameras show commuters pouring into and out of Taipei in the morning and early evening; weekends bring heavier traffic on coastal and mountain routes as people head for beaches, hot springs and old streets. Rain falls in every season here. Summer storms and the June-to-October typhoon season can bring the heaviest downpours, while winter monsoon winds keep the northeast coast cool, damp and often cloudy. Clear winter days, when they come, give some of the sharpest views.

Within this page’s radius you will also find Taipei’s city cameras in the middle of the map and Keelung’s on the northeast edge. Out on the coast, the cameras along Provincial Highway 2 are a good way to check sea and sky conditions before a drive to Fulong Beach or Yehliu.
