Live cameras in Buena Park, United States

Buena Park is a city in northern Orange County, California, about twelve miles northwest of Santa Ana and well inside the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The 2020 census counted about 84,000 residents. Long before the city existed, the Tongva village of Juyubit stood beside Coyote Creek at the foot of the West Coyote Hills. A Chicago grocer, James Whitaker, founded the town in 1887 on part of the old Rancho Los Coyotes, just as the railroad was opening the region to new settlement.

Buena Park grew famous thanks to Walter and Cordelia Knott, whose roadside berry stand and chicken dinners turned into Knott's Berry Farm, one of the oldest theme parks in the country. A stretch of Beach Boulevard near the park, often called the Entertainment Corridor, has dinner shows and other attractions, and Disneyland is only a short drive south in Anaheim.

Santa Ana Freeway views

The cameras here belong to Caltrans, the California Department of Transportation, and come from its CWWP2 image feed, also shown on the QuickMap site. Each one posts a still picture every few minutes. Interstate 5, the Santa Ana Freeway, cuts through the city on its way between Los Angeles and Orange County, and State Route 91, the Artesia Freeway, crosses the southern part of town. The views are good for checking whether the freeway heading toward the theme parks or downtown Los Angeles is moving.

Orange County runs on Pacific Time, so a morning image here is three hours behind a New York clock. The weather is warm and dry for most of the year, with morning gray skies in late spring and occasional heavy winter rain. Traffic peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, and the theme parks draw extra crowds on summer weekends and around Halloween, when Knott's Scary Farm runs on fall evenings.

Neighboring Fullerton, with its historic train station and university, is a few minutes east, and La Mirada and Cerritos lie just across the county line.
