Live cameras in Chur, Switzerland

Chur is the capital and largest town of Graubunden, the large mountain canton in eastern Switzerland. It lies at about 590 meters in the Rhine valley, at the point where the river turns north toward Lake Constance and the Plessur stream flows in from Arosa. About 40,000 people lived here at the end of 2024. Chur is often called the oldest town in Switzerland, with traces of settlement going back more than 5,000 years, and it later became a Roman post and a bishop's seat. The compact old town climbs toward the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption, built between 1154 and 1270. German is the main language, with Italian and Romansh also spoken.

The cameras on this page are MeteoSwiss weather cameras around Chur, such as Landquart, about 13 km down the valley at 548 meters. Each one takes a 360-degree panorama every ten minutes. Other views come from high mountain passes in the canton: the Fluela Pass at 2,189 meters between Davos and the Lower Engadine, and the Splugen Pass at 2,147 meters on the Italian border. They are handy for seeing whether the passes are snowy or clear and what the weather is doing in the valleys.

• The foehn wind often brings warm, clear days here, especially in spring and autumn.
• The Fluela and Splugen roads are normally closed in winter, and snow can linger on the passes into June.
