Aleutian Islands sunset live cam – Shishaldin (BRPK camera)

What you are looking at
The BRPK camera sits at about 400 m (1,320 feet) on Unimak Island, about 19 km (12 miles) southeast of Shishaldin Volcano, and looks northwest. On clear days it shows Shishaldin's tall, nearly perfect snowy cone rising above dark lowlands and winding streams, often with a plume of steam drifting from its summit crater.
Shishaldin, at about 2,850 m (9,350 feet), is the highest volcano in the Aleutian Islands and one of the most active. In 2023 it had a series of strong explosive events that sent ash high into the air, and between eruptions a steam plume often rises from the summit. The Alaska Volcano Observatory Shishaldin page posts the current alert level and activity notes.
A fresh frame appears here about every ten minutes. Sunrise and sunset can color the cone pink and gold, and clear winter days show it in full white. Clouds frequently hide the summit. Tip: a white steam plume is normal for Shishaldin; a gray or brown plume is more likely to contain ash.
