Miranda de Ebro is an industrial town of about 37,000 people in the province of Burgos, Castile and León, straddling the Ebro river near its meeting with the Bayas. It sits in a corner of the region where three autonomous communities meet: the Basque province of Álava begins just to the north and east, and La Rioja lies a short way downstream. Bilbao, Burgos, Logroño and Vitoria-Gasteiz are all within 80 kilometers. The town grew as a railway junction where the Madrid–Hendaye line meets the line from the Ebro valley to Bilbao, and its economy leans on chemical industry and logistics. The Pancorbo gorge, a narrow pass through the Obarenes mountains, opens the way south toward the Meseta.

Two camera sources, two regions

This page mixes feeds from two public operators. The DGT, Spain's national traffic directorate, watches the roads on the Castilian side, including the AP-1 toward Burgos and Madrid and the AP-68 between Bilbao and Logroño, which meet near the town. The other views come from Open Data Euskadi, the Basque Government's open data service. Those cameras are actually across the border in Álava, on the motorways and main roads heading north toward Vitoria and Bilbao, and they appear here simply because Miranda is the nearest named place on our map. Both sources publish still images every few minutes.

This is one of the busiest freight corridors in Spain, with heavy truck traffic linking the ports of the Basque coast and France to the interior. In winter, fog in the Ebro valley and snow on the Pancorbo pass can slow traffic, and the cameras help show conditions. Central European Time applies on both sides of the border, with summer time starting on the last Sunday of March.

Miranda's biggest celebration is the San Juan del Monte pilgrimage on Whit Monday, when crowds head to the hill of San Juan outside town. A May fair with a medieval market is held on the first weekend of the month. The wine villages of the Rioja Alta and the Romanesque church of Santa María in Miranda's old quarter are good reasons to stop.
