Carol Stream is a village in DuPage County, Illinois, about thirty miles west of downtown Chicago, with about 40,000 residents at the 2020 census. Its name has a story people like to retell: developer Jay Stream founded the village in 1959 and named it after his daughter Carol, who had survived a serious car crash two years earlier. Despite the watery sound of the name, there is no creek called Carol Stream.
