North Peoria is the north side of the City of Peoria, Illinois, the newer, largely residential and commercial part of town that spreads away from the river bluffs, mostly north of War Memorial Drive. It is where much of Peoria shops and commutes: Knoxville Avenue (Illinois Route 40) is its main north-south artery, carrying around 24,000 vehicles a day, and its crossing with War Memorial Drive (U.S. Route 150) is one of the busiest intersections in the Peoria area. Northwoods Mall and the Westlake Shopping Center sit along these corridors, and Junction City on Prospect Road, opened in 1956 as Peoria's first retail destination, has gray board-and-batten shops joined by covered boardwalks.

In summer the sun sets around 8:30 p.m. Winter snow and ice, and summer thunderstorms rolling in across the prairie, are when the main roads look most different from day to day.

Nearby, the Rock Island Greenway, built on the old Peoria and Rock Island Railroad line, carries walkers and cyclists through the north side; at Pioneer Parkway it meets the Rock Island Trail State Park, which continues 26 miles to Toulon. Peoria Heights, the village on the bluffs to the east, is a short drive away.
