Live cameras in Hinsdale, United States

Hinsdale is a village in the western suburbs of Chicago, mostly in DuPage County with a sliver in Cook County, about fifteen miles west of the Loop. It had about 17,400 residents at the 2020 census and is known as one of the wealthiest communities in Illinois, with tree-lined streets, large historic homes and a compact downtown around the train station. The village was incorporated in 1873 along the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, and three Metra stations on today's BNSF Line, Highlands, Hinsdale and West Hinsdale, still carry commuters to Union Station. UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale is the largest employer and the county's only teaching hospital.

Tri-State and Ogden Avenue views

Every camera on this page is an Illinois Department of Transportation view from the Gateway traveler information system, sending still images that refresh every few minutes. Interstate 294, the Tri-State Tollway, forms the village's eastern boundary, Illinois Route 83 marks its western edge, and Ogden Avenue, U.S. Route 34, runs east-west through the north side. Interstate 55 is a short distance to the south. LiveLocation links each camera to its nearest place, so the IDOT views from the expressways and junctions around this part of DuPage and Cook counties gather here, even though few are within the small village itself.

As in the rest of the Chicago region, clocks follow Central Time. The Tri-State and I-55 are busiest on weekday mornings and late afternoons, and heavy summer travel and holiday weekends can slow traffic at nearly any hour. Winters bring snow, sleet and the occasional deep freeze, and spring and summer bring thunderstorms. In late June the sun sets around half past eight; in December it is down by about twenty past four, so the darker winter afternoons show mostly lights.

Oak Brook and its shopping center lie just to the north, the historic Graue Mill stands on Salt Creek a short drive away, and Western Springs and Clarendon Hills border the village.
